Mommy Makeover in the OC
Raising children is absolutely one of the most important jobs in society. Joy, tears, fears, hopes and dreams, it’s surely an emotional rollercoaster and well worth the ride. Apart from the medical risks associated with child-bearing, many women experience a change in body tone.
In some cases the change in physical appearance can cause a lowering of a woman’s self-esteem. Diet and exercise can help tone a woman’s body after childbirth, but there are times when a little extra is needed.
Julie, an executive in Orange County says, “A few years ago, I took a hard look in the mirror and didn’t like what I saw”. Julie explains that she was overweight and uncomfortable, and she felt unattractive.
At first she enrolled in a physician supervised weight loss program and she was able to lose 25 pounds. Next she hired a personal trainer and after a couple months she had her workout routine dialed in. Still, she was unhappy with sagging breasts and other parts of her body.
“When a woman’s body goes through a pregnancy, you gain weight, and no matter what you do, some of it doesn’t go away”, she said.
Julie started considering plastic surgery. These days, there is so much information on the web, so that’s where she started. She found Dr. Thomas Nguyen, Medical Director of the Institute of Cosmetic and Reconstructive Surgery. Dr. Nguyen has several great reviews and is a general surgeon as well as a board certified plastic surgeon. Dr. Nguyen also donates his time to help children who are burn victims and Julie liked that.
The staff at The Institute of Cosmetic and Reconstructive Surgery was not only extremely professional, but nice as well.
Julie’s mommy makeover procedure took about four hours. She stayed a few days in the after care facility, then went home to continue her recovery. “The first week was the toughest,” she remembers. Her strategy was to take the prescribed pain medication around the clock for several days to handle the abdominal discomfort of skin and muscles healing. “To me, the best pain management plan is to feel no pain!” she laughs.
Julie went back to work a couple weeks later and resumed light workouts until she was able to return to her full regimen, which was after about 4 weeks.
“I feel like I’ve been given a gift”, she said, “I’m approaching my 40th birthday, and I look better and feel better than I have in years. I feel like I’m in my 20′s!”.
With diet, exercise and a mommy makeover from Dr. Nguyen, Julie feels like she has her body back. She’s looking forward to wearing a bathing suit, donning a skinny cocktail dress or slipping on a pair of skinny jeans. Yeah!
